В статье обосновывается необходимость формирования и усвоения словарного минимума профессиональной лексики на английском языке студентами, обучающимися по направлению «Ландшафтная архитектура» и смежным специальностям в области ландшафтного дизайна. Рассматривается роль терминологической компетенции в структуре профессиональной подготовки, анализируются лингвистические особенности ландшафтной терминологии как многоуровневой системы, включающей понятия из ботаники, экологии, архитектуры, почвоведения, инженерных дисциплин. Особое внимание в статье уделяется зарубежному опыту и взаимосвязи владения профессиональной лексикой на английском языке и успешности освоения специальных дисциплин, работы с проектной документацией, международными источниками, а также профессиональной коммуникации в сфере ландшафтного проектирования. Новизна исследования проявляется в необходимости систематизации единиц ландшафтной лексики и обусловлена отсутствием работ, освещающих проблему изучения и создания лексического минимума такой успешной и стремительно развивающейся в настоящее время сферы, как ландшафтная архитектура. В статье обобщаются современные подходы к формированию терминологической компетенции и обосновываются критерии отбора лексических единиц для отраслевого словаря-минимума

The article substantiates the need for the formation and assimilation of a minimum vocabulary of professional vocabulary in English by students studying in the field of Landscape Architecture and related specialties in the field of landscape design. The article considers the role of terminological competence in the structure of professional training, analyzes the linguistic features of landscape terminology as a multilevel system that includes concepts from botany, ecology, architecture, soil science, and engineering disciplines. The article pays special attention to foreign experience and the relationship between proficiency in professional vocabulary in English and the success of mastering special disciplines, working with project documentation, international sources, aswell asprofessional communication in the field of landscape design. The novelty of the research is manifested in the need to systematize units of landscape vocabulary and is due to the lack of works highlighting the problem of studying and creating a lexical minimum in such a successful and rapidly developing field aslandscape architecture. The article summarizes modern approaches to the formation of terminological competence and substantiates the criteria for selecting lexical units for a minimum industry dictionary
