The article analyzes the current state of the labor market and the problems of unemployment in the agricultural sector of the economy. Specific features of employment in agriculture are considered, including seasonality and territorial dispersal. The paradox of the combination of official unemployment in rural regions with an acute shortage of qualified personnel among employers hasbeen identified. Particular attention is paid to the impact of technological modernization on the structure of demand for labor, demographic challenges and government support measures aimed at securing specialists in the countryside. Forecasts for the development of agricultural employment in the context of digitalization are given
