Статья посвящена жизни и многогранной деятельности выдающегося русского юриста В.Д. Спасовича (1829-1906 гг.), олицетворяющего «золотой век» отечественной адвокатуры. Прослежен его путь от профессора Петербургского университета до присяжного поверенного. Центральное место занимает анализ уникального судебного метода Спасовича, основанного на верховенстве разума, логики и скрупулёзной работе с доказательствами, что раскрыто на примерах защиты в «Тифлисском деле» (1876 г.) и обвинения в деле о поджоге мельницы Овсянникова (1875 г.). Освещён его вклад в юридическую науку через труды «Учебник уголовного права» (1863 г.) и «О теории судебно-уголовных доказательств в связи с судоустройством и судопроизводством» (1861 г.), в которых отстаивались принципы независимого суда, гуманизма и свободной оценки доказательств

The article is devoted to the life and multifaceted work of the outstanding Russian lawyer V.D. Spasovich (1829-1906), whopersonified the «golden age» of the Russian legal profession. Hispath from a professor at St. Petersburg University to a sworn attorney. The central place is occupied by the analysis of Spasovich’s unique judicial method, based on the supremacy of reason, logic and meticulous work with evidence, which is revealed by the examples of the defense in the Tiflis case (1876) and the charges in the case of the arson of the Ovsyannikov mill (1875). Hiscontribution to legal science is highlighted through the works “Textbook of Criminal Law” (1863) and “On the theory of judicial and criminal evidence in connection with the judicial system and judicial proceedings” (1861), which defended the principles of an independent court, humanism and free evaluation of evidence
